Job Title: Capital Projects and Fixed Asset Accountant (Hybrid)
Location: San Dimas, CA – Hybrid – 3 days in office / 2 days remote
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $80,000 – $87,000 annually
Overview:
Our client, a leading publicly traded company, is seeking an experienced Capital Projects and Fixed Asset Accountant to join their finance team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for supporting capital projects, managing fixed asset accounting, and ensuring accurate reconciliation of financial records. This hybrid position provides flexibility, while maintaining strong collaboration across teams to ensure financial integrity and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Capital Projects Accounting: Set up and manage work orders for capital projects, including establishing annual budgets and processing budget transfers. Work closely with engineering teams to monitor the progress of projects, ensuring timely closure and accurate work order recordings.
General Ledger Analysis: Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations and analysis on various general ledger accounts such as unclaimed refunds, advances for construction, and CIAC, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
Roll-Forward Schedules: Prepare and manage roll-forward schedules for assigned GL accounts, focusing on utility plant and related accounts.
Fixed Asset Management: Oversee the accounting for fixed assets, including asset setup, transfers, depreciation, and ensuring the reconciliation of the sub-ledger to the general ledger.
Audit & Contract Reconciliations: Audit Main Extension Advance Contracts and perform necessary reconciliations to ensure proper accounting and compliance.
System Integrity: Resolve any data integrity issues within the contract module and ensure accurate reporting across systems.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial reports for Form 10-Q and 10-K filings, as well as government surveys and compliance reports (such as FERC and CPUC).
Refund Processing: Process Main Extension Contract refunds, monitor accuracy, and prepare assignments on a monthly basis.
Process Improvements: Evaluate JD Edwards (JDE) Contract setup for Main Extension Contracts and suggest improvements to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
Special Billing & Payments: Prepare and record special water rights billing, and track related payments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Cross-Departmental Support: Assist with data requests from other departments, providing timely and accurate financial information to support business decisions.
Key Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting or fixed asset management, ideally within a publicly traded company.
Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, etc.).
Proven experience in fixed asset accounting and project accounting.
Strong knowledge of JD Edwards (JDE), with preference for candidates experienced in its financial modules.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, particularly in reconciling and analyzing financial data.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with engineers and cross-functional teams.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
