Key Responsibilities:
ASC 740 Tax Provision Management:
Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations, tax rate analysis, and managing uncertain tax positions.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP standards.
Collaborate with internal and external teams on tax provision preparation and audits.
Indirect Tax Compliance:
Manage the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns, including sales/use tax, across various jurisdictions.
Stay ahead of regulatory changes and help guide the business on compliance, risk mitigation, and process optimization.
Lead indirect tax audits, resolving disputes with tax authorities and offering guidance for operational and transactional needs.
REIT Compliance:
Ensure compliance with REIT-specific tax regulations, performing ongoing testing and analysis to maintain REIT qualification status.
Partner with legal and finance teams to evaluate tax implications of strategic transactions, including acquisitions and asset dispositions.
Cross-Functional & Strategic Contributions:
Work closely with teams across finance, accounting, and legal to support tax planning, M&A activities, and other strategic initiatives.
Support M&A due diligence and integration, implementing tax policies, procedures, and internal controls that align with SOX requirements.
Actively contribute to a culture of improvement, sharing ideas and solutions to enhance both tax strategy and business operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
CPA or equivalent professional certification is strongly preferred.
Experience:
At least 5+ years of experience in tax, particularly ASC 740 and indirect tax compliance.
Experience with REIT tax requirements is a plus.
Background in public accounting or corporate tax functions is ideal but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of ASC 740, REIT compliance, and indirect tax frameworks.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex tax scenarios, particularly within M&A.
Experience with tax software (e.g., OneSource, Corptax) and ERP systems (e.g., Workday) is advantageous.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on teamwork and building relationships.
Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
