We are currently seeking a hands-on Controller for a well-established $25–30M construction company located in Vista, CA.

 

This is an onsite role, ideal for someone who thrives in a smaller company environment and is comfortable handling full-cycle accounting while managing a small team. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and take ownership of both accounting and HR functions.

 

Key Responsibilities for the Controller:

• Oversee day-to-day general ledger (GL) accounting activities
• Manage full-cycle accounting: AP, AR, journal entries, monthly close, and financial reporting
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and perform variance analysis
• Supervise a team of 3–4 AP/AR clerks, providing guidance and support
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Review contracts, manage lien releases and prelims
• Handle HR functions including onboarding, benefits coordination, and employee record management

 

Qualifications for the Controller:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of full-cycle GL accounting experience
• Prior supervisory experience required 
• Experience in the construction industry is required 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
• Experience with Solomon or similar ERP systems is a plus
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Hands-on, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to take initiative
