Assembles, wires and tests complex electromechanical equipment with minimal guidance or supervision. Utilizes knowledge and understanding of technical documentation including electrical schematics, wiring and block diagrams, mechanical assemblies, system layouts and piping diagrams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs intermediate to complex electromechanical assembly operations. Positions and or fastens parts according to written procedures, verbal instructions, blueprints or schematics.

Verifies or validates the square and alignment of base assemblies, sills, cabinet frames, or equipment structural components, on bench, floor or floor plate. Cuts, strips, bends, and forms wire cable and tubing used to connect circuits and subassemblies. Solders connections and crimps connectors to wire ends.

Assembles control devices, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components.

Performs bench tests of intermediate subassemblies (i.e. RF generators and automatchs).

Performs quality inspections for workmanship, safety, documentation and system compliance using the latest engineering drawings.

Plans, directs, and records periodic in-house plasma systems vacuum pump maintenance and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.

Confers with appropriate technical personnel to identify and resolve errors or related problems in diagrams, performance conditions or tests and subassembly malfunctions.

Documents activities and prepares reports including quality and/or test performance results.

Assembles, modifies and reworks electro/mechanical systems for customers as well as in-house first article systems.

Conducts maintenance and repair functions for company owned process systems and equipment.

Is accountable for meeting work hour standards that are set for system and component assembly.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must be able to interpret layout blue prints and wiring schematics.
