Job Description

Growing company in Carson is now hiring an experiencedTool Designer to their fabrication team! In this role, you will

designs tools, jigs, fixtures and other special devices for specified operations in the production function. Will involve analyzing engineering blueprints, operation specs and other engineering or shop date to determine the proper design of requested tool.

  • Making sure design is compatible with specified fabrications procedures and with the limitations of the equipment to be employed

  • Prepares design drawings and specifications

  • Provides liaison service with tool fabrication agency for interpretation and correction of design applications


Permanent(direct hire) position with benefits - NOT A CONTRACT JOB!
Hours:
M-F – 6 am – 2:30 pm plus overtime if necessary daily and/or Saturdays if needed.

Location: Carson, CA

Pay Range: $24-34 per hour plus OT


Requirements:


  • Ability to select and use all types of grinding machines, honing, abrasive wheels, holding fixtures, gauges, micrometers, etc.

  • Read and interpret complex mechanical drawing and common work instructions without supervision.

  • Ability to perform prototype manual machining, grinding, honing and precision material removal to complex specifications with minimal instructions. CNC machining skills a plus.

  • Work with manufacturing engineering to develop best practices for grinding tooling, abrasive tools and material handling.

  • Able to select preferred abrasive tooling such as grinding wheel material and honing stones based on process requirements.

  • Basic mathematical skills such as add, subtract, multiply and divide.

  • Perform SPC (Statistical process control) on work performed.

  • Routine basic and complex preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

  • Train newer employees as needed.

  • Ability to shift priorities with little or no notice.
